Black Jack Ova 1

- The OVA started in 1993 and ended in 2000. That's the whole OVA, ending with episode 10. A decade later, after the director has passed away, people decided to pay him a tribute by making two more episodes called 'Black Jack Final'.

A decade later, after the director has passed away, people decided to pay him a tribute by making two more episodes called 'Black Jack Final'. Now the question is, why is that one entry on MAL? It wasn't a production break or anything. The OVA was finished at episode 10, and 11 years later they made a sequel. Why wasn't the Final OVA added as a sequel but was rather merged as one entry? It's also a recent edit well into the split cour era, so it's not a case like Card Captor Sakura (which was still a production break, rather than sequels). Can some mods explain me why Black Jack Final is merged with Dezaki's Black Jack and not set as a sequel? |

Isn't the decade between them a good reason not to include them as one thing? It does have the Final in its name, that already makes it have a different name than the first OVA. |

Ex: Kuroko no Basket, JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stardust Crusaders, Ushio to Tora. AnimeDB lists them as a separate entry also Modified by Jerkhov, Mar 27, 2016 12:15 PM |

For TV Series it makes sense to separate them if there are breaks in between the broadcasting periods, but OVAs aren't broadcast and generally released irregularly so combining them, under certain circumstances, makes more sense, which is why it says so in the Guidelines for OVAs and Specials specifically. It's also not a special case that the 11th/12th OVA episodes had an episode subtitle attached to it. That alone doesn't mean they have to get their own entry though. The rule about combining OVAs into one entry is still relevant since it was specifically announced as the 11th episode. If you still think what I say is invalid feel free to contact other mods, maybe you'll find one that agrees with you. But it won't be me, based on the information I have.
